Job summary

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama Inc is seeking a Supervisor for the 2nd Shift Paint Shop in Cottondale, AL. The role leads the shift, ensures KPIs are met, oversees safety, and coordinates staff to maintain production quality and delivery standards.

Responsibilities include audit of processes, first-piece release, and daily KPI reporting, with emphasis on strong leadership and rapid response to changing production needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related work experience.
• Supervisory experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
• Administration and management of production systems with KPI focus.
• Knowledge in IATF Audit processes, ISO 14000, VDA 6.3.
• Basic knowledge in labor regulations and training systems.
• Core tools: AMEF, Control Plan, Flowchart, Pareto, 8D.
• Safety rules and 5S.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Shift Start Board with staff in charge before shift.
• Pass staff support, report incidents and adjust shift templates.
• Audit and perform first piece release in processes.
• Leadership and customer service orientation.
• Ensure delivery compliance to customer requirements.
• Audit PPE usage and area safety per 5S.
• Prepare daily indicators and report to operations board.
• Notify Superintendent of downtime and assist in resolution.
