O’Neal Steel in Nashville, TN is seeking a 2nd Shift Operations Supervisor to oversee processing, loading and shipping of orders, ensuring quality and on-time delivery while maintaining safety and cost standards.

The supervisor serves as the liaison between hourly staff and management, driving continuous improvement, coordinating production schedules, and ensuring compliance with Lean principles and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years supervisory or leadership experience.
• Steel service center or metal processing/manufacturing experience preferred.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience with safety training, truck scheduling, and routing.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise warehouse and delivery employees and manage payroll.
• Ensure trained personnel have instruction and tools to perform duties.
• Coordinate and execute production schedules.
• Develop cross-training opportunities for employees.
• Supervise shop activities to meet quality standards.
• Assign daily tasks and overtime to meet delivery dates.
• Apply lean principles to improve processes.
• Monitor staffing levels and budget adherence.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with the Maintenance Department.
• Administer policies and monitor performance.
• Drive safety and housekeeping improvements.
• Meet KPI targets (OTD, QDR, LTA, MH/Ton).
• Provide error-free output for internal/external customers.
• Prepare production schedules and coordinate with departments.
• Communicate with sales to improve operations.
• Manage work orders and lead-time scheduling.
