Job summary

AllSearch Professional Staffing, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager for a Westport, MA scrap metal recycling facility.

The role supports 2nd shift operations, oversees yard activities, ELV processing, and shredder support, while driving safety and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in scrap metal/recycling environments, prior supervisory experience, and a strong understanding of throughput optimization.

Qualifications

• 2nd shift experience in a metal recycling/industrial setting is required.
• Leadership or supervisory experience overseeing teams in a heavy industry.
• Knowledge of ELV depollution processes and scrap segregation desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily recycling facility operations and material flow.
• Coordinate production priorities with department leads and yard supervisors.
• Monitor throughput, downtime, and bottlenecks to support targets.
• Oversee shredder feed prep and downstream processing.
• Supervise operations during the manager’s absence.
• Ensure safe operation of heavy equipment and processing gear.
• Collaborate with EHS and HR on safety initiatives and compliance.
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, investigations, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure environmental compliance related to ELV depollution and stormwater management.
• Promote proper PPE use and safe work practices.
• Support process improvements for productivity and material recovery.
