Job summary

Somic America in Wytheville, VA is seeking a Material Handler for the 2nd shift (3pm - 11pm) to ensure safe, accurate handling and movement of materials within the plant. Responsibilities include forklift operation, FIFO, pallet and container handling, and loading/unloading trucks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift/Tugger and perform daily safety checks.
• Move materials within the plant and load/unload trucks.
• Ensure FIFO and proper placement of material in locations.
• Read manifests, pull and ship orders, and verify paperwork.
• Maintain clean and safe work area and assist with 5S.
• Notify leader of safety or quality concerns and stop process if needed.
