Job summary

Yarde Metals is hiring a Material Handler for the 2nd shift at our Southington, CT location. You will move material throughout the warehouse by operating a forklift, side loader and overhead crane, selecting material according to work orders.

Responsibilities include organizing pull tickets, retrieving material from inventory, transporting to saw locations, recording discrepancies and staging orders for shipping while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand English to follow work instructions.
• History of working safely and productively.
• Forklift operation experience strongly preferred.
• Basic math skills to convert decimals and fractions and to read tape measures and calipers.
• Dependable, punctual, and works well with others.
• Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, meet physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to pass a human performance evaluation to meet physical requirements (lifting up to 70 lbs, pushing, pulling).
• Willingness to work required overtime.

Responsibilities

• SAFETY FIRST!
• Organize pull tickets by location and material type and retrieve material from inventory racks.
• Safely operate forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes.
• Measure material using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Transport and locate material into the inventory racks.
• Deliver material to designated saw locations for processing.
• Record and report inventory discrepancies.
• Conduct final inspections to ensure correct material for machine operators.
• Tag and return material drops from processed jobs to proper locations.
• Stage completed orders in shipping/loading zones for delivery.
• Prepare and dispose of scrap.
• Perform additional warehouse duties as directed by supervisor.
