Job summary

Somic America in Wytheville, VA seeks a Material Handler to safely move and stock materials, operate forklift, and maintain a clean, organized work area. The role requires attention to safety and quality while supporting multiple production lines.

You will read manifests, pull orders, ship products, and ensure production lines stay stocked with raw forgings and components. A High School diploma or GED is required, with the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read safety rules and operating instructions.
• Basic math for weighing and measuring materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks for Fork Truck/Tugger.
• Move materials and pallets within the plant and rotate stock FIFO.
• Read manifests, pull orders, ship orders, and verify paperwork for accuracy.
• Fill lines with components and ensure production lines are stocked with raw materials and empties.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform 5S in assigned areas.
• Load/unload trucks and stage incoming materials; assist with trash disposal.
• Submit suggestions for process improvements.
