Job summary

Monarch Steel Company of Alabama, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized operations.

You will troubleshoot and repair production equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and install new systems while upholding our 1 TEAM culture and OSHA safety standards. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, and a 1-year technical certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate preferred.
  • Experience in maintenance or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Industrial safety awareness and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and the physical plant.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the production equipment and physical plant.
  • Install new equipment and systems.
  • Start and Complete Work Request form(s) within the manufacturing data system.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

  • Second Shift is from 2pm-12:30am, currently working a 5x10 week. Weekends as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Experience in welding and cutting.
  • Forklift/crane certification
  • Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic repairs and installation
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and the use of a multimeter
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company.
  • Able to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, operating instructions, maintenance information and procedure manuals written in English.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; able to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
  • One-year certificate from a technical school, preferred.
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus.
