Job summary

Monarch Steel Company of Alabama, Inc., a division of American Consolidated Industries, is seeking an Operator I to support maintenance and production processes in a steel facility.

Under general supervision, the role involves handling coil identification, loading lines, and ensuring safety and quality procedures are followed. Candidates should have a high school diploma and readiness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Industry knowledge or prior manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read measurements and basic instructions in English.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace the 1 T.E.A.M. culture and safety policies.
  • Wear protective equipment and follow OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and good housekeeping.
  • Verify product identification and reconcile coil identity.
  • Load material onto production lines and ensure proper feeding.
  • Make adjustments for material tracking and in-process inspection.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Operator I position performs a variety of skilled tasks involved involving the general maintenance and operations processes; basic understanding of equipment and performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Verification and recording of product identification
  • Reconcile coil identity for production and load coil
  • Ensuring material is loaded onto lines and fed into production equipment in accordance with all safety policies and quality procedures.
  • Responsible for making necessary adjustments to ensure material tracking/stacking.
  • Performing in process visual inspection
  • Ensuring material is unloaded from lines in accordance with all safety policies and quality procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to use computers, read tape measures
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours/days as needed
  • Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company
  • Able to read and comprehend simple work instructions, work orders, short correspondence and memos written in English
  • Able to write simple correspondence in English
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus
