Job summary

Monarch Steel Company, Inc. is seeking a Plant Utility to support maintenance and production operations in a fast-paced steel facility. You will perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks, follow safety rules, and assist in producing and handling steel coils and finished goods.

Strong attention to detail and reliable teamwork are essential. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, forklift/crane certification, and comfort using ERP systems and measurement tools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Forklift/crane certification preferred.
  • Basic math and measurement skills required.
  • Ability to operate computers and read work instructions in English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform unskilled and semiskilled maintenance and operations tasks.
  • Maintain safety and follow OSHA guidelines.
  • Update ERP system with production quantities and identifiers.
  • Print tags and apply to product.
  • Coordinate movement of finished goods to inventory locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Plant Utility performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks involved involving the general maintenance and operations processes; and performs related work as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Assist in installing compliance with work order, work instructions and/or customer specs while following all safety guidelines.
  • Perform final check for material condition & takes appropriate steps for handling.
  • Update ERP system with production quantities and identities
  • Print tags and apply to product
  • Coordinate the movement of finished goods by material handlers to inventory locations
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Forklift/crane certified
  • Ability to use computers, read tape measures, micrometers and calipers
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Strong focus and attention to detail
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours/days as needed
  • Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company
  • Able to read and comprehend simple work instructions, work orders, short correspondence and memos written in English
  • Able to write simple correspondence in English
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus

Hours: Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 1:00 am with possibility of overtime on Fridays
