Job summary

Woodward, Inc. in Niles, IL seeks a Machinist I for 2nd shift to set up, operate and maintain machines with supervision. You will follow blueprints, inspect parts with gauging tools, and document nonconforming material while participating in root cause actions.

A strong attention to detail and basic CNC knowledge are essential. You’ll work a Monday–Friday schedule with shift-specific duties, participate in safety programs, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within a manufacturing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of related work experience or a trade school degree.
• Knowledge of inspection techniques and use of inspection tools.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blueprints.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerances on prints.
• Basic CNC learning and machining knowledge.
• Good written and verbal communication; basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setup and operate machines with minimal supervision.
• Document nonconforming material and participate in root cause actions.
• Follow safety standards and operating procedures.
• Use computer programs to log data, instructions and blueprints.
• Inspect machined parts with gauging equipment and perform first piece checks where applicable.
• Read and follow blueprints and process documentation.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain records.
