Job summary

Tramec Sloan, located in Galion, OH, seeks a Manufacturing Supervisor – Machining for 2nd shift to lead the machining department on the floor. You will supervise, train, troubleshoot, and continuously improve processes while ensuring safety, quality, and delivery targets are met.

The role requires hands-on supervision, setup and tooling know-how, GD&T interpretation, and strong problem-solving skills. This is a hands-on, production-floor leadership position on 2nd shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on machining experience.
• Previous supervisory, lead, or team-lead experience preferred.
• Strong machining knowledge, including setup, tooling, and troubleshooting.
• Strong quality inspection and precision measurement experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and direct machining employees on 2nd shift.
• Assign employees and machines based on production requirements, skill level, and workload.
• Remain actively involved in machining operations and provide hands-on support.
• Assist with machine setups, tooling, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Monitor production schedules, machine performance, downtime, scrap, and rework.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T.
• Perform and oversee first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
• Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Identify and resolve machining and quality issues and work with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance as needed.
• Ensure employees follow established work instructions, inspection procedures, and safety requirements.
• Hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance.
• Conduct shift meetings and communicate production priorities and issues to management.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce scrap and downtime, and increase productivity.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and productive work environment.
