BASIC FUNCTION:

Under moderate supervision, operates a variety of machines such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, or special purpose equipment to machine metal workpieces to specification on a production basis.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Performs a variety of tasks on different machines.
2. Works from engineering drawings or rough sketches.
3. Sets up own machining work.
4. Performs other duties as assigned by leader or supervisor.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

A thorough knowledge of machining techniques, materials, tools, equipment, and blueprint reading is required. Ability to read precision measuring tools is also required. Skills may be gained through practical experience and/or specialized training. Prior CNC or manual machine experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequent bending, twisting, and/or lifting approximately 55 pounds (and periodically heavier loads approximately 75 pounds) will be required.
