Job summary

Reliance, Inc. is seeking a seasoned machinist to work in our Plant family. You will supervise, train, and lead production tasks, setup and operate precision machines, and interpret blueprints to ensure parts meet exact specifications.

The role requires hands-on experience in metals processing and distribution, strong attention to quality, and the ability to work with a team to meet tight schedules. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Columbia, SC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of warehousing, material handling, and machining experience required.
• High School diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
• Basic measurement skills to perform basic math computations correctly required.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows software required.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge, experience, and judgment required.
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff on a limited basis and ensures proper training and performance.
• Oversees and coordinates day-to-day operations for a functional area.
• Leads group meetings with staff.
• Assists in hiring and training staff.
• Performs setup, adjustment, and operation of machines to produce precision parts.
• Reads blueprints and tooling instructions to plan operations.
• Interprets specifications and machining characteristics of metals.
• Operates material handling equipment when required.
• Performs quality control inspections on finished products, including ISO processes.
• Completes work order paperwork and restocks material.
