Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the 2nd shift in Winston‑Salem, NC. You will perform preventative maintenance and repair on production equipment and plant systems, including PLCs and three-phase motors, with strong emphasis on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 2–3 years in electro‑mechanical automation; proficiency with hydraulic/pneumatic systems and reading drawings is required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Military training and/or Technical School preferred; 2-3 years of electro-mechanical automation installation and troubleshooting experience.
• Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays and three-phase power.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings; PLC troubleshooting and practical electrical/mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical production equipment and plant systems.
• Repair electrical equipment, control circuits and PLCs; troubleshoot relay logic and PLCs.
• Calibrate and repair pneumatic and other mechanical systems; maintain maintenance records.
• Read, interpret drawings and operate computer systems monitoring equipment; work varied shifts and overtime as needed.
