Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the 2nd shift to perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical production equipment and plant systems, including the main power supply. The role requires 2–3 years of electro-mechanical experience and a strong PLC/electrical aptitude.

Ideal candidates will read electrical and mechanical drawings, work independently, and adapt to varying shifts with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of electro-mechanical automation system installation & troubleshooting experience.
• A working knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power and PLCs.
• A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• A strong PLC troubleshooting ability with practical mechanical & electrical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Must be fully computer literate with Microsoft environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner.
• Ability to work various shifts / overtime / days per week.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems involving production equipment and plant systems.
• Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
• Repairs electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; and replaces faulty electrical equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoots Three Phase Motors and PLCs in production equipment.
• Operates a computer controlling and monitoring mechanical equipment and utility systems.
• Calibrates and repairs pneumatic and other mechanical systems to assure optimum production performance.
• Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
