Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support 2nd shift. The role covers preventive maintenance and repair of production equipment, including PLCs and three-phase power, with a focus on reliability and safety in a large packaging facility.

The candidate should have electro-mechanical experience, read electrical and mechanical drawings, and be proficient with Microsoft tools.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of electro-mechanical automation system installation and troubleshooting experience.
• Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3-phase power, and industrial controls.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Fully computer literate with Microsoft environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and overtime/shifts.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems involving production equipment and plant systems, including the plant’s main power supply system.
• Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
• Repairs electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical equipment as needed (Three Phase Motors and PLC applications).
• Must have working knowledge of relay logic and apply it to troubleshooting PLCs in production equipment.
• May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
• Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems and other mechanical systems on production equipment to assure optimum performance.
• Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
