Job summary

FORMA-FAB METALS, INC in Mebane, NC is seeking a finishing technician to deburr parts, grind welds, polish and grain parts, and prepare parts for paint per workmanship standards.

The role requires standing for long periods, the ability to lift 50–75 lbs, and at least 2 years of experience with finishing tools in a production environment. Overtime may be required to meet production needs.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience using finishing tools in a production environment.
• Experience with metal or wood finishing.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Basic computer skills and ability to read and follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines using hand tools and knowledge of abrasives.
• Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts.
• Inspect parts for defects and segregate.
• Remove access material from weldments.
• Inspect grinding machines, stones, and blades for proper condition.
• Report deviations in equipment and product.
• Read and follow work instructions and grinding instructions.
• Input and maintain data in ERP system/Global.
• Complete paperwork/job sheets for the area.
• Maintain a clean workstation daily.
• Work overtime as needed and maintain excellent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Provide attention to detail and follow safety practices.

Monday-Thursday 4:30 pm - 2:00 am, overtime as needed

Position Summary

Work with electric and pneumatic hand tools to deburr parts, grind welds, polish and grain parts, and prepare parts for paint per company workmanship standards.

Essential Functions

• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures
• Performs basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts
• Inspect parts for visible defects and segregate
• Remove the access material from weldments
• Responsible for inspection of grinding machines, stones, and blades to ensure proper condition
• Responsible for reporting any deviations in equipment and product
• Read and follow all related work instructions, such as shop orders, process sheets, and grinding instructions
• Input and maintain data in the ERP computer system/Global
• Complete paperwork/job sheets required for the area
• Cleaning the workstation on a daily basis
• Must maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires
• Perform all other responsibilities as assigned
• Provide a great level of attention to detail, focus on the given task, and follow safety practices
• Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements

Environmental Conditions

• Humidity level may be elevated during the summer months
• Exposure to loud noise, at times

Physical Demands

• Able to stand on your feet for at least ten hours a day
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs
• This is a 40-hour per week job with the potential for overtime
