Job summary

Forma-Fab Metals is seeking a capable Finishing Technician to deburr parts, grind welds, and finish surfaces for paint. You will use electric and pneumatic hand tools, select grinding wheels, and prepare parts per workmanship standards.

The role requires 2+ years of experience with finishing tools in a production environment, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to read and follow written instructions. Overtime may be required and attendance must be reliable.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinding equipment to deburr, grind welds, and prepare parts for paint.
• Maintain and inspect grinding machines, stones, and blades for proper condition.
• Input and maintain data in ERP system per shop instructions.
• Follow work instructions and process sheets; complete job sheets.
• Maintain a clean workstation and comply with safety practices.

Job description

Shift: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, overtime as needed

Position Summary

Work with electric and pneumatic hand tools to de burr parts, grind welds, polish and grain parts and prepare parts for paint per company workmanship standards.

Essential Functions

• Select and mounts grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures
• Performs basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts
• Inspect parts for visible defects and segregate
• Remove the access material from weldments
• Responsible for inspection of grinding machines, stones and blades to ensure proper condition
• Responsible for reporting any deviations in equipment and product
• Read and follow all related work instructions, such as shop orders, process sheets and grinding instructions
• Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global
• Complete paperwork/job sheets required for area
• Cleaning work station on a daily basis
• Must maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires
• Perform all other responsibilities as assigned
• Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task, and follow safety practices
• Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 2 years experience working with finishing tools in a production environment
• Should have metal or wood finishing experience
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Basic computer skills and the ability to read and follow written instructions

Environmental Conditions

• Humidity level may be elevated during summer months
• Exposure to loud noise, at times

Physical Demands

• Able to stand on your feet for at least ten hours a day
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs.
• This is a 40 hour per week job with the potential for overtime
