Job summary

Forma-Fab Metals is seeking a dedicated finishing operator to deburr parts, grind welds, polish, and grain components to ready them for paint per workmanship standards.

You will select grinding wheels, perform routine machine maintenance, inspect parts for defects, and ensure accurate data entry in the ERP system while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and reporting any deviations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience with finishing tools in a production environment.
• Should have metal or wood finishing experience.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to read and follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
• Performs basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts.
• Inspect parts for visible defects and segregate.
• Remove the access material from weldments.
• Responsible for inspection of grinding machines, stones, and blades to ensure proper condition.
• Responsible for reporting any deviations in equipment and product.
• Read and follow all related work instructions, such as shop orders, process sheets, and grinding instructions.
• Input and maintain data in the ERP computer system/Global.
• Complete paperwork/job sheets required for the area.
• Cleaning the workstation on a daily basis.
• Must maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires.
• Perform all other responsibilities as assigned.
• Provide a great level of attention to detail, focus on the given task, and follow safety practices.
• Assist in other areas as needed.

Shift: Monday-Thursday 4:30 pm - 2:00 am, overtime as needed

Work with electric and pneumatic hand tools to deburr parts, grind welds, polish and grain parts, and prepare parts for paint per company workmanship standards.

Environmental Conditions

• Humidity level may be elevated during the summer months
• Exposure to loud noise, at times

Physical Demands

• Able to stand on your feet for at least ten hours a day
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs
• This is a 40-hour per week job with the potential for overtime
