Job summary

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an Operator A - Bed Toppers Mfg 2nd Shift in Temple, TX. You will operate saw machines to produce quality cut foam material to meet a daily production schedule for external customers.

Forklift certification may be required and will be provided. The role requires reading a tape measure, basic math, and ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Ability to read a basic tape measure.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Some computer experience and be able to use a computer in day to day operations.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance on machinery.
• Ability to become a Certified Forklift Operator if needed.
• Able to lift or adjust heavy pieces of foam 35 to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand labeling processes and read/write English.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, safe work environment.
• Operate Slitter saw within established standards.
• Verify proper equipment operation and report problems.
• Make manual adjustments based on product specs.
• Conduct quality checks on all materials to meet specs.
• Monitor equipment to minimize downtime.
• Record data into the recording system.
• Follow production schedules to cut foam slabs into usable components.
• Follow work instructions to maintain quality.
• Adjust cutting schedules for efficient foam usage.
• Communicate with management on labeling of cut blocks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
