Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking an experienced Fitting & Welding Foreman to lead the second shift in a structural steel fabrication shop. You will supervise welders and fitters, schedule work, enforce safety policies, and ensure on-time delivery while maintaining quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent English communication, and hands-on supervision, with daily coordination with project management and purchasing. Overtime and Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

• Required: structural steel fabrication industry experience.
• Required: leadership experience overseeing welders and fitters.
• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and guide shop employees while enforcing company policies and safety procedures.
• Oversee daily fabrication operations, including personnel, equipment, tools, and materials.
• Maintain production and fabrication schedules and coordinate deliveries to meet deadlines.
• Develop and communicate standard fabrication procedures.
• Monitor quality control to ensure products meet required standards and are delivered on time.
• Evaluate workflow and production methods to improve efficiency, employee performance, and product quality.
• Coordinate with project management, logistics, purchasing, other departments, and fabrication facilities regarding project status, quality, and delivery schedules.
• Maintain equipment, buildings, and shop resources as needed.
• Build and maintain working relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Balance shop workload and communicate operational updates to the Regional Fabrication Operations Manager.
• Coordinate inventory needs with the first-shift foreman, operations management, and purchasing.
• Make operational decisions that support company goals and determine work hours as needed to meet delivery commitments.
