Job summary

Steel Service is seeking a skilled welder to perform welded joins and fillings per drawings, supporting quality and productivity goals. The role requires competence with various welding processes and strict adherence to safety practices.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, inspecting welds, and ensuring conformance to specifications while working in a dynamic shop environment. This full-time position reports to the Shop Foreman and requires flexibility in schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• 1+ years welding experience.
• Must be a certified welder per AISC D1.1.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Recognize, set up, and operate welding equipment such as SMAW, GMAW, TIG, and other weld processes.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
• Select and install torches, tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
• Ignite torches and start power supplies to strike arcs.
