Job summary

Scripps Research is seeking a Facilities Operator II in La Jolla, CA. The role involves hands-on maintenance of boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and building controls. You will troubleshoot and repair plant systems and work second shift with occasional other shifts.

Requires 5+ years in related mechanical work, safety-minded approach, and ability to use CMMS and BAS tools. Valid driver license and physical ability are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related experience.
• 5+ years of directly related experience maintaining, repairing and installing mechanical systems.
• Trade/Vocational School certification may substitute for up to 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance, installation, modification, and repair of boilers, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, and motors.
• Take daily rounds to inspect operating systems, read readings, and report conditions.
• Respond to emergency calls for building or equipment failures and diagnose on the spot.
