Job summary

San Bernardino County is seeking Building Plant Operators to monitor and operate a steam boiler and chiller plant, performing maintenance and repair tasks and leading workers and contractors on specific jobs.

Positions cover mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems and computerized controls, with corrective actions to sustain proper function across county facilities. EPA 608 certification and boiler/chiller expertise are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey-level experience operating and maintaining boilers and chillers.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification within six months of hire.
• LA City Steam License or equivalent Steam Engineer license.
• Experience with building management/automated systems (BMS/BAS) and related controls.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor a steam boiler and chiller plant.
• Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Lead workers and contractors on assigned jobs.
• Maintain computerized controls and respond to system faults.
