Job summary

GFL seeks a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and waste/recycling equipment under shop leadership. You will perform routine and complex repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electric vehicles, using the M5 planner to plan repairs and ensuring parts are procured for a complete maintenance plan.

Safety and compliance are required; daily reports and work orders must be completed. Shift is 2pm–12am, with overtime after 40 hours.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; a diesel mechanics diploma/degree is highly desired.
Minimum of 1 year experience as a diesel mechanic.

Responsibilities

Diagnostics & repair: diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks, hydraulics, and specialized waste/recycling equipment.
Fleet maintenance: perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated vehicles.
Planning & scheduling: plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner system and ensure parts are procured for maintenance.
Administrative duties: complete daily reports, work orders, parts orders, and other required documentation.
Safety & compliance: ensure work complies with all safety regulations and company policies.
Collaboration & training: assist in reviewing write-ups, coordinate repair schedules, and help train new team members.
Tool maintenance: maintain personal hand and power tools and keep workspace organized.
