Job summary
General Motors in Saginaw, MI is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer on the 2nd shift to support PLC/HMI-controlled manufacturing processes in a high-volume plant.
You will troubleshoot, improve and implement automation solutions, mentor others, and collaborate with quality, maintenance and production teams; a background in electrical or computer engineering and hands-on factory experience is required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with electrical/control systems in manufacturing.
- Experience with HMI, industrial automation or controls systems.
- Ability to work any shift including weekends.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong autonomy and project management for complex initiatives.
- Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet/DeviceNet networks.
- Familiarity with servo motors, motion control and drives.
- Experience with Fanuc robot setup and programming.
Responsibilities
- Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting of controls and panels.
- Diagnose and improve manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Design and deploy intuitive user interfaces.
- Support manufacturing, quality and maintenance teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality, cost and safety.
- Lead plant installation and commissioning activities.
- Mentor others on control-related topics.
