Job description

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled maintenance activities, including construction, welding, brazing, soldering, plumbing, and hydraulics. They will monitor all production areas to ensure proper functioning of equipment and machinery, prioritize work orders, and schedule mechanics accordingly.

  1. Train employees on safety procedures such as Lock Out Tag Out, Power Industrial Truck, Scissor Lift, and Fall Protection.
  2. Adjust, repair, and replace electrical and electronic equipment.
  3. Participate in the HAZMAT team to ensure emergency preparedness.
  4. Promote safety in all maintenance activities.
  5. Complete required paperwork, including payroll documentation.
  6. Attend scheduled meetings.
  7. Provide feedback to team members on training progress and verify understanding through hands-on training.
  8. Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  9. Apply root cause analysis and be goal-oriented.
  10. Lead personnel toward achieving personal and plant results.
  11. Assist HR with maintaining accurate pay records and job postings.
  12. Coordinate maintenance responsibilities and oversee equipment mechanics.
  13. Address downtime issues caused by mechanical or technical defects.
  14. Process maintenance downtime reports and assign work orders or projects.
  15. Maintain the department budget within guidelines.
  16. Conduct pre-operational inspections and address maintenance concerns to ensure scheduled operations.
  17. Review and approve maintenance purchase requisitions.
  18. Perform other duties as needed.
Required Skills
  • Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of job specifications.
  • Experience in industrial construction is advantageous.
  • Previous maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Availability to work 40+ hours per week across all plant areas.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices in building, mechanical, and electrical trades.
  • Experience in mechanical work.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Good attendance record (less than 3 points for internal candidates).
Education Requirements
  • Technical schooling with a focus on mechanical or electrical trades is beneficial.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
