2nd shift Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor

The Eurofins network has grown from a single laboratory in Nantes, France, to 58,000 staff across 900 laboratories in over 54 countries, offering over 200,000 analytical methods to evaluate biological substances and products.

Responsibilities

1. Manage daily operations of the microbiology department to ensure smooth sample flow and testing.
2. Provide leadership in laboratory operations, including hiring, coaching, reviewing, managing, and terminating staff as needed.
3. Prioritize daily activities and ensure quality control systems are operational.
4. Oversee staff scheduling to meet production goals and adjust staffing for peak demands.
5. Ensure KPIs are established, relevant, and regularly evaluated.
6. Prepare for and facilitate audits by customers or regulatory bodies.
7. Maintain current industry standards and regulatory knowledge.
8. Review and approve SOPs, participate in strategic planning, and lead method development.
9. Build and maintain positive client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction.
10. Counsel staff on operational issues and oversee data accuracy and transfer.
11. Oversee onboarding of new staff and conduct investigations related to quality events.
12. Identify process improvements, recommend new equipment, and monitor inventory.
13. Serve as liaison to vendors, assist in capital budgeting, and understand testing costs.
14. Interface with regulators and ensure compliance with all regulatory and cGMP requirements.
15. Perform annual reviews, create job plans, and execute HR functions for staff.

• Extensive knowledge of microbiology testing methods, materials, and equipment.
• Proven success in improving operational, quality, and safety performance.
• Effective communication, organization, and teaching skills.
• Knowledge of relevant standards, regulations, and guidelines.
• Ability to manage and schedule team work effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of microbiology experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or sponsorship.

This full-time position is scheduled for Tuesday-Saturday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with additional hours as needed. Candidates residing near Lancaster, PA are encouraged to apply.
