POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Location: Ottumwa, IA

Job title: Maintenance Supervisor

Type of position: Full-time

General Description:

  • Perform skilled maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering, plumbing, and hydraulics.
  • Monitor all production areas to ensure proper functioning of equipment and machinery.
  • Prioritize work orders and schedule mechanics based on urgency and necessity.
  • Train employees on Safety Procedures including Lock Out Tag Out, Power Industrial Truck, Scissor Lift, Harness/Fall Protection, etc.
  • Adjust, repair, and replace electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Participate in HAZMAT team to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
  • Promote and encourage safety in all aspects of maintenance.
  • Arrange for completion of required paperwork, such as payroll.
  • Attend scheduled or called meetings.
  • Safety background desired.
  • Provide timely feedback to team members on training progression.
  • Spend time in the plant verifying team members' understanding through hands-on training.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Goal-oriented with root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to lead people toward achieving personal and plant results.
  • Assist HR with maintaining accurate pay records for hourly postings and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate maintenance responsibilities and oversee equipment mechanics.
  • Responsible for correcting or facilitating corrective measures when downtime results from mechanical or technical defects.
  • Process maintenance downtime reports for management and assign work orders or projects to maintenance staff.
  • Maintain department budget within guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and address maintenance concerns to ensure scheduled operations.
  • Review maintenance purchase requisitions and submit for approval.
  • Tend to other duties as needed.

Required skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform general mathematical calculations.
  • Mechanical inclination and knowledge of job specifications.
  • Experience in industrial construction is beneficial.
  • Previous hourly maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Work 40+ hours per week in all plant areas.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices used in building, mechanical, and electrical trades.
  • Previous mechanical experience required.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Good attendance record (less than 3 points for internal candidates).

Education Requirements:

  • Technical schooling with emphasis on mechanical or electrical fields is helpful.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
