Job summary

Cleveland Gear Company seeks a 2nd shift CNC Lathe Operator to set up and run CNC lathes and related secondary machines. You will select tooling, inspect parts to blueprints, and report production data according to procedures.

The role requires English literacy, ability to operate hoist/crane, and a background in machine shop settings. The position emphasizes safety, setup accuracy, and routine maintenance, with a strong focus on quality control and adherence to tolerances.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years vocational school or one (1) year machine shop experience
• Must be able to read and write in English
• Must be able to operate hoist or crane
• High school graduate
• Five (5) years experience on CNC lathes
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs
• Must be able to operate hoist or crane
• Safety rules and procedures
• Setup and operation of equipment
• Ability to read blueprints and tolerances
• Familiar with quality procedures and requirements
• Editing of programs
• Must read and write in English
• Understanding of departmental procedures and instructions
• Hoist and crane operation
• Safety rules
• Operation of machines
• Training and seminars as deemed necessary by management

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes
• Set up and operate secondary machines
• Selection of tooling
• Inspection of product to blueprint
• Accurate reporting of production and labor to company procedures
• Update setup records as needed
• Locate, load, and store tape or program
• Perform preventive maintenance as required
• Cleaning of work area
• Movement of parts to next operation
• Write and edit CNC program when necessary
