Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Elkhart, Indiana, is seeking an Operator A in the Bedding Department for 2nd shift (2pm to 10pm). The position manages operation of foam-bedding cutting and packaging equipment and communicates with the department manager for material needs.

Starting pay is $23.93–$24.85 per hour, plus a seniority premium. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and 2+ years of manufacturing experience, with the ability to read a tape measure and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years manufacturing experience.
• 1+ months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to use computerized equipment.
• Overtime may be required, including Saturdays, during busy seasons.

Responsibilities

• Creates and labels all finished products and stock.
• Uses order listings to determine sizes and amounts to cut.
• Operates all machines in bedding department including rail saw, slitter, forklift, and holepunch.
• Enters dimensions into control panels and sets machine parameters.
• Verifies proper machine operations and checks output accuracy.
• Operates baler and ties bales.
• Wraps and packages product in polyurethane wrap.
• Make machine adjustments as necessary to minimize downtime.
