Job summary

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Checker Loader on 2nd shift (1pm–9pm) at the Elkhart, Indiana foam plant.

The role operates equipment in the carpet cushion department, loading finished products to meet production and quality standards, with a pay rate of $23.93–$24.85 per hour plus $2.00 shift premium for 2nd shift. Candidate must have forklift experience, high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills (SAP preferred), and be willing to train on 1st shift for 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift experience required.
• Basic computer experience required; SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manually load and drive a squeeze forklift.
• Lift and maneuver carpet cushion rolls and foam packages weighing up to 80 pounds.
• Inspect material for defects; plan workflow with lead person or supervisor to load trailers.
• Perform quality checks and read a tape measure.
• Scan products with a hand scanner and enter data into the computer; print labels and bills of lading.
