Job summary

WM is seeking an Assistant Diesel Mechanic in Simi Valley, CA. You will inspect and repair a variety of vehicle systems at our shop and participate in safety and service procedures.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, 18+ years of age, and eligibility to work in the United States. Training is available, with stable hours Monday–Friday and a 2nd shift starting at 3:00pm.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Willing to attend two-week training courses in Arizona.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

The hours and location you'll work as an Assistant Diesel Mechanic with WM

• Monday - Friday every week
• 2 nd Shift Start Time 3:00pm
• Occasional Saturdays

The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Simi Valley, CA hauling site.

Here’s more of what you’ll do

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles - the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

• A valid driver's license, with a clean driving record
