Job summary

Waste Management is hiring a Diesel Mechanic for our Aldan, PA site. You will diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and braking systems on a variety of vehicles, ensure safety standards, and work in a team-focused shop environment.

The role offers a starting hourly wage of $34–$38 with shift differential, tool and boot allowances, healthcare, education assistance, and a 401(k) match. Work Monday–Thursday 12:00 pm–8:30 pm and Saturdays 7:00 am–3:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Able to perform physical requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for repairs and parts.
• Work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Assist senior mechanics in project work and review DVIRs.

The hours and location you'll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM:

• Monday - Thursday every week
• Shift is from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm
• Every Saturday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Aldan, PA hauling site.

• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.

• Safety checks on vehicles - the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

What do you need to be considered for the role of Diesel Mechanic

• 2 years of relevant work experience
• A valid drivers license, with a clean driving record
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
