Waste Management is seeking an Assistant Diesel Mechanic in Van Buren, AR. The role offers a stable, full-time opportunity with a Monday–Friday schedule, 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, plus some Saturdays if needed.

You’ll work in a repair/maintenance shop at our Van Buren hauling site fixing trucks and equipment used to serve millions of customers. You will diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems, estimate costs, and maintain safety and paperwork standards.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Assist senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
