Waste Management in Simi Valley, CA is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service and repair trucks and equipment across our local fleet. You will work on electrical and hydraulic systems, with opportunities to advance while supporting millions of customers nationwide.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, own tools, a valid license, and ability to travel for training in Arizona. Starting pay is $34.25 per hour with a $1.85 shift differential plus tool and boot allowances.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • 18 years or older; legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Able to travel by plane for 2 weeks of training in Arizona.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Safety checks on vehicles – safety of every employee and community members.
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage and repair times.
  • Assist senior Mechanics in project work.
  • Review or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with safety procedures.

The hours and location you'll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM:

You'll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.

  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
What do you need to be considered for the role of Diesel Mechanic:
  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • A valid drivers license, with a clean driving record

Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S is $34.25. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
