Job summary

Academies of Math and Science is seeking a passionate 2nd Grade Teacher for its Camelback Campus in Phoenix, starting 2026-2027, to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

The ideal candidate will be data-driven, able to collaborate with grade-level teams, engage families, and support Title I communities while maintaining high expectations and a positive classroom culture.

Qualifications

  • Valid Arizona elementary teaching certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience managing a classroom in Title I settings is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze student data to drive instruction.
  • Strong collaboration with instructional leaders and families.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver standards-aligned instruction across core subjects using AMS curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners' needs.
  • Use formative and summative data to plan targeted interventions.
  • Monitor student progress and implement interventions.
  • Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment with PBIS.
  • Engage families through conferences and regular updates.

We're excited to provide the best education in the best environment to our students!**Academies of Math and Science – Camelback Campus****2nd Grade Teacher****Location: 6633 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033** **Start Date: 2026–2027****Compensation Range: $48,331.25 – $54,571.88 annually (DOE)**## Position OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 2nd Grade Teacher to provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that builds strong academic foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, differentiated learning, and consistent use of data to inform instruction.The ideal candidate is committed to supporting students in Title I communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.## Key Responsibilities### Instruction & Student Achievement* Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction across core subject areas using AMS curriculum frameworks* Develop students’ foundational literacy, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills* Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level* Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions* Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage student curiosity and academic growth* Monitor student progress and implement interventions to support individual learning needs### Classroom Culture & Student Support* Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment* Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies* Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where students feel supported and motivated to learn* Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development* Build strong relationships with students while maintaining consistent classroom expectations and routines### Collaboration & Professional Growth* Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities* Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices* Analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes* Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement* Participate in campus initiatives and activities that support student success### Family Engagement* Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic expectations, and areas for growth* Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships* Provide families with meaningful updates regarding student achievement and classroom performance* Partner with families to support students’ academic and personal development## Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet the following requirements:* Valid Arizona teaching certificate or appropriate certification to teach elementary education* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Elementary Education, or a related field* Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment* Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities* Strong organizational and analytical skills with enthusiasm for data-driven instruction* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and instructional leaders## Preferred Qualifications* Previous elementary or 2nd grade teaching experience* Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments* Experience supporting English Language Learners* Knowledge of Arizona academic standards* Experience using student data to drive instruction and interventions* Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred## Compensation & BenefitsAMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.* Competitive salary based on years of K–12 teacher-of-record experience* 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions* Medical, dental, life, and disability insurance* Optional vision coverage* Performance bonuses and stipend opportunities* Professional development and instructional coaching* Opportunities for leadership growth within a growing multi-state networkJoin us to enjoy rewarding challenges and ongoing opportunities!
