Job summary

Academies of Math and Science – Camelback Campus is hiring a 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The position requires an active Arizona elementary teaching certificate and a bachelor’s degree in Education, with a commitment to serving Title I communities.

Responsibilities include delivering standards-aligned instruction, leveraging AMS curricula, differentiating for learners, and using data to drive instructional decisions.

Qualifications

  • Arizona teaching certificate or appropriate elementary certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and maintain high expectations.
  • Experience serving Title I and multilingual learner communities.
  • Strong organizational and data-driven instruction skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction across core subjects using AMS curriculum frameworks.
  • Develop foundational literacy and mathematical reasoning; differentiate for varied levels.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to plan targeted interventions.
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom with strong routines and PBIS practices.
  • Collaborate in PLCs; analyze student data to improve outcomes and school-wide systems.
  • Engage families with regular updates and conferences to support student growth.

Location: 6633 W Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033

Start Date: 2026–2027

Compensation Range: $48,331.25 – $54,571.88 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Achievement
  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction across core subject areas using AMS curriculum frameworks
  • Develop students’ foundational literacy, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and targeted interventions
  • Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage student curiosity and academic growth
  • Monitor student progress and implement interventions to support individual learning needs
Classroom Culture & Student Support
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment
  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where students feel supported and motivated to learn
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
  • Build strong relationships with students while maintaining consistent classroom expectations and routines
Collaboration & Professional Growth
  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices
  • Analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve student outcomes
  • Contribute to school-wide systems focused on student achievement and continuous improvement
  • Participate in campus initiatives and activities that support student success
Family Engagement
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, academic expectations, and areas for growth
  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships
  • Provide families with meaningful updates regarding student achievement and classroom performance
  • Partner with families to support students’ academic and personal development
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate or appropriate certification to teach elementary education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Elementary Education, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment
  • Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and instructional leaders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous elementary or 2nd grade teaching experience
  • Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments
  • Experience supporting English Language Learners
  • Knowledge of Arizona academic standards
  • Experience using student data to drive instruction and interventions
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
