Job summary

Dept Behavioral Health/Develop at Western State Hospital is seeking full-time Psychiatric Care Technicians (PCTs) and Certified Nursing Aides (CNAs) for 2nd and 3rd shift to provide direct patient care in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital. The roles involve following care policies, maintaining a safe environment, and working with licensed staff to support recovery-oriented care.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide direct psychiatric patient care under supervision.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and psychiatric patients.
• Ability to work in a secure environment with patients experiencing acute symptoms.
• Able to follow instructions and report observations to licensed staff.
• Demonstrate knowledge of recovery/trauma-informed care.
• Appropriately intervene in crisis or problem situations.
• Has skills in guiding patients in activities of daily living.
• Willing to learn basic psychiatric disorders and human behavior.
• Willing to learn basic treatment measures to promote mental health.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Monitor and document vital signs in the EHR.
• Assist individuals with ADLs.
• Provide one-on-one direct observations.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques for behavioral situations.
• Administer CPR and manage approved restraints.
• Serve meals and maintain patient areas.
• Observe and report interventions, treatments, and patient well-being.
• Escort patients to appointments and classes.
• Document and communicate observations effectively.
