Job summary

Western State Hospital, operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, is seeking Psychiatric Care Technicians and CNAs for 2nd and 3rd shifts to provide direct patient care in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital.

Positions require CNA certification or equivalent and involve lift/transfer duties, observation, and collaboration with licensed staff. Comprehensive benefits and shift differentials are offered.

Qualifications

• Provide direct psychiatric patient care under supervision of licensed staff.
• Communicate effectively with staff and patients.
• Work in secure environments with acutely ill individuals.
• Follow instructions and report observations to licensed staff.
• Demonstrate knowledge of recovery/trauma-informed care.
• Intervene appropriately in crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Monitor and document vital signs in the EHR.
• Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Provide one-on-one direct observations.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral situations.
• Administer CPR and perform approved physical interventions.
• Serve meals and maintain cleanliness in patient areas.
• Document and communicate observations effectively.
• Escort patients to classes and medical appointments.
