Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking a 2D Mechanical Drafter/Engineer for a Washington County facility in the Greater Milwaukee area. The role focuses on 2D AutoCAD drafting for custom industrial equipment, thermal systems, ductwork, and BOMs, with direct interaction with shop floor fabricators and welders.

You will design, verify, and refine drawings, create fabrication packages, and support project lifecycles from concept to delivery in a stable, on-site environment that emphasizes quality and practical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related four-year engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of 2D AutoCAD drafting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with heavy industrial equipment, sheet metal, ductwork, piping, or heat transfer.

Responsibilities

• Draft and design specialized industrial equipment using 2D AutoCAD for client orders.
• Create fabrication layouts, structural schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with shop floor fabricators, welders, and machinists to verify designs.
• Develop supporting 3D renderings as needed for reviews and spatial constraints.
• Own design lifecycles across core product lines and ensure performance requirements.
• Refine legacy drawings to improve yield and reduce cycle times.
