Primary Purpose

Provide struggling students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designedto help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications
Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
Valid Texas teaching certificate within required endorsements or required training forsubject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience

At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
  1. 1. Implement lessons that accommodate the learning needs of academically struggling students.
  2. 2. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipmentthat reflect the learning needs of students assigned.
  3. 3. Assist in conducting universal screening evaluations and providing data to classroom teachers.
  4. 4. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  5. 5. Work with campus team to target and plan instruction.
Student Growth and Development
  1. 6. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through progress monitoring.
  2. 7. Assist with classrooms when needed to allow teachers time for professional development and datareview.
Classroom Management and Organization
  1. 8. Create small group setting conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, andemotional development of students.
  2. 9. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  3. 10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, andfacilities.
Communication
  1. 11. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  2. 12. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

  1. 13. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
