Job summary

Grand Blanc Community Schools is seeking a school food service assistant to support meal preparation and service in our kitchens across campuses. You will assist the chef with meal prep for catered events, maintain clean work areas, and help ensure safety and health regulations are followed.

This role requires ability to lift and move equipment, strong math skills, good public relations, and reliability. Training and workshops may be required; successful background check is also necessary.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina to successfully perform assigned responsibilities.
• Experience in a school food service program.
• Ability to work with numbers, must have good math skills.
• Willing to attend relevant training classes and workshops in order to perform assigned duties.
• Must have good public relations skills.
• Successfully pass a live scan criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef with any meal prep for caterings.
• Wash dishes you have used and clean your area. Other duties might include food preparation and general cleanup.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment between schools (up to 10 pounds).
• Abide by all state and local health and safety regulations.
• Report any and all unsafe or hazardous conditions.
• Be well informed on current and future food service procedures, policies, and regulations.
• Must be able to work well with students and staff.
• Job assignments may vary depending on location and scope of catering assignments.
• When catering jobs are not scheduled, employee will be assigned to an open position as a sub.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Director or Head Cook.
