The Department of Philosophy offers students the following opportunities for a rich and rewarding undergraduate experience: a general Philosophy Major, a Pre‑Law Option, and a Religious Studies Option, as well as minors in Philosophy, Peace and Conflict Studies, and Middle East Studies.

Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association. Eligibility to work in the United States must be demonstrated; Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for temporary faculty positions.
The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For temporary faculty with a Master’s degree, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term.
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. The number of positions varies from semester to semester. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms.
