Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Department of Liberal Studies

Job No: 556195 | Work Type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer | Location: Central California: Fresno | Categories: Bargaining Unit: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Appointment Type: Temporary, Time Basis: Part Time

Position Summary

The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as: see catalog link for the list of courses or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.

Instructor Responsibilities
  • Adherence to university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
  • Preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams.
  • All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Conditional Appointment
  • Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement. Availability to begin teaching on short notice is required.
  • Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).
  • These provisions state the "Order of Work," or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.
Compensation

Commensurate by qualifications and experience within salary range placement. Salary ranges per CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master's degree: $5,507-6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Actual salary adjusted based on WTUs assigned per term.

Anticipated Semester
  • Pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed.
  • Number of positions varies by semester.
  • Appointments from the pool are often made just prior to the start of the term.
  • Pool remains in place for two academic terms; reapplication required thereafter.
  • Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026; Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree in Education, Teaching, Learning & Curriculum with emphasis in P-12 Education or closely related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds; successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level or in K-12 schools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, exhibited through prior teaching experience and evaluations or other evidence.
  • Successful teaching experience at undergraduate level.
