Job summary

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission in Middletown, PA, is seeking a Traffic Operations Center Technician 1 to monitor and coordinate communications for real-time traffic conditions at the Traffic Operations Center. This full-time role operates 24/7, supporting safety and service along Pennsylvania's toll road system.

Responsibilities include dispatching emergency resources, notifying agencies, and maintaining incident records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in an emergency dispatch center handling communications, emergency calls or radio dispatches.
• Must obtain an Emergency Telecommunication Course (ETC) certification by the end of their trial period or probationary period.
• Must acquire and maintain a valid CLEAN/NCIC certification within ninety days.
• Must demonstrate the ability to type a minimum of 30 wpm on a PT​C administrated test.
• Must have and maintain a clean criminal history record and appropriate security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, evaluates and coordinates communications for real-time traffic conditions.
• Dispatches service and emergency resources including police, fire, and medical services.
• Documents and updates all activities for each reported incident.
• Notifies key personnel of significant incidents and weather conditions.
• Maintains communications with emergency and non-emergency units 24/7.
