Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking an Operations Manager for a 24-hour DHS shelter in New York City. You will direct daily facility, safety, staffing, and administrative operations, supervise RA staff, and coordinate maintenance and food service monitoring to ensure resident-centered, compliant operations.

The role requires leadership across three shifts, readiness for inspections, and strong documentation practices. Strong collaboration with site leadership and external partners is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience supervising shelter operations and staff.
• Ability to manage schedules, logistics, and incident reporting.
• Familiarity with DHS shelter requirements and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day shelter operations across 3 shifts.
• Supervise RA Shift Supervisors and Residential Aides; conduct briefings and training.
• Prepare staffing plans; monitor attendance, overtime, and vacancies.
• Coordinate maintenance, sanitation, and food service monitoring.
• Ensure readiness for DHS/OTDA inspections and reporting.
• Maintain accurate logs, binders, and KPI tracking.
• Lead training on safety, crisis response, and resident-centered operations.
• Collaborate with leadership to resolve barriers and drive improvements.
