Job summary

Georgia System Operations Corporation (GSOC) is seeking a Physical Security Operator to monitor and respond to alarms, manage access control, and maintain situational awareness across critical facilities supporting Georgia's electric grid.

This role operates in a 24x7 security operations center, requiring vigilance, clear communication, and precise documentation of activity to ensure auditable records.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in security, law enforcement, or business preferred or equivalent experience.
• Availability for 24x7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience maintaining accurate documentation and auditable logs of security activities.
• Ability to obtain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status per GSOC policy and NERC CIP-004.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to physical security alarm systems, surveillance equipment, notification systems, life-safety systems, and related technologies.
• Perform walkdowns to support security monitoring and response activities.
• Support escalated security activities with internal staff and external resources, including law enforcement when appropriate.
• Track, elevate, and report security activity with auditable logs.
• Process incoming requests (phone/email) for reports, access, or redirection to other teams.
• Create and distribute access badges as directed.
• Prepare written communications to support situational awareness for stakeholders.
• Participate in drills and training exercises; support cyber/IT security backup monitoring when needed.
