Job summary

MARTA is seeking an experienced supervisor to serve as the replacement for the General Superintendent when required, overseeing bus communications dispatch and schedules. The role requires monitoring computer systems, coordinating emergency procedures, and training dispatchers.

On-call 24/7, the incumbent may respond to emergencies and major incidents and may influence management policies. The position involves supervising dispatchers and transportation supervisors, ensuring efficient daily

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in core transportation operations, two of which were in a supervisory capacity.
• Knowledge of the operations of Communications Center consoles including bus control and related procedures.
• Knowledge of Labor Agreement and experience dealing with union representatives.
• Directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Assigns work to and supervises division dispatchers and transportation supervisors.
• Coaches personnel on proper performance of work, providing direct technical assistance.
• Plans, monitors, evaluates and develops employee performance to maximize potential.
• Reports hazardous street conditions, equipment malfunctions, and recurring problems to the appropriate authority.
• Procures all materials necessary for radio communication operations.
• Co-ordinates with General Superintendent, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to ensure optimum relationships with radio communications.
• Has the authority to affect and interpret management policies or operating practices.
• Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
