Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Laredo, a 183-bed acute care facility, is seeking a Facility Maintenance Engineer to oversee plant operations, maintenance and monitoring of hospital mechanical and electrical systems in a 24/7 environment.

The role requires on-call after hours and weekends on a rotating basis, with responsibilities including equipment rounds, ticket closures, and coordinating vendors to ensure reliable facility performance.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1-3 years experience in hospital maintenance or construction trades work.
• Ability to perform basic maintenance work.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Good written and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a Hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Make equipment and building rounds; record and log data.
• Respond to call backs and remedy issues; escalate as needed.
• Direct facilities vendors to routine work areas; facilitate repairs.
• Crossover work with the operations team on joint departmental efforts.
• Promptly respond and close work orders and tickets.
• Record machinery history and report problems to Facilities Supervisor.
• Operate, monitor, maintain and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
• Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, building monitoring and control with policies.
